Why the Ancient Medicine, Psilocybin?
Introduction to Psilocybin
Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychoactive/ psychedelic compound found in more than 200 species of fungi worldwide (commonly referred to as 'magic mushrooms').
Mushrooms have been used for their hallucinogenic properties for thousands of years. A mural in Northern Australia, dated to 10,000 BCE, features mushrooms and psychedelic imagery.
The Aztecs and Mayans referred to them as 'Teonanácatl' (flesh of the gods). Psilocybin was commonly used in ceremony for divination, healing, pain relief, and celebration. Similar use of hallucinogenic mushrooms is seen in Ancient Greece (including by Socrates, Plato and Aristotle), Siberia, and Ancient Egypt.
In modern times, we are experiencing an accelerating psychedelic renaissance and psilocybin therapy is fast gaining momentum for addressing anxiety, depression, addiction, and PTSD due to the failures of our existing frameworks.
However, psilocybin (and other psychedelics) is also a conduit for dramatic, accelerated personal transformation, growth, and healing. By bypassing our fear-based, entrenched egoic defenses, it is a powerful entry point into higher states of consciousness. It liberates us to stop fighting battles of the past and dissolves trauma and our maladaptive strategies.
We see how our current behaviour is based on survival-based, defense mechanisms, and that the cost of staying with these outdated approaches, especially now, is just too high.

Your Ancient Medicine Journey
Your Ancient Medicine journey is shaped by both setting and set (your mindset). Thus, it will take place in a safe, peaceful and nurturing environment, where you will be accompanied by Dr Carolina and her experienced, compassionate, responsible team. There will be a very deep ceremony and on ingesting, it will take approximately 30-45 minutes to take effect, peak at 1-2 hours, and then last another 2-4 hours.
Your psilocybin is pure and comes directly from Oaxaca, cultivated by the guardians of Maria Sabina's lineage and legacy (Maria Sabina pictured). Maria Sabina was a Mazatec healer who introduced psilocybin mushrooms to Western culture in the mid-20th century. Her use of them for spiritual and healing purposes caught the attention of Western researchers, leading to the discovery of psilocybin, the psychedelic movement, and renewed interest in the therapeutic potential of these substances.
Your mindset is guided by your own intentions, and you are supported to surrender to the wisdom of the mushroom spirit and allow it to assist you to explore vast realms of consciousness and the deepest parts of yourself.
Should your fears, traumas, and limiting beliefs arise as part of resolving/releasing them, you'll be guided stay open and curious, and supported to unravel and release the layers of conditioning that have kept you stuck, confused and trapped.
Journeying deeper, you may find yourself merged with what some call 'the Heart of the Divine', a state of profound oneness and interconnectednes with all of creation.
The Cuisine
During our time together, you will have the opportunity to try Mexican food, as well as a host of other flavours and styles, with care taken also for those who are vegetarian or who have food sensitivities.
With its rich blend of indigenous, European, and African influences, Mexican food is a true reflection of the country's cultural heritage and history. One of the most beloved aspects of Mexican food is its bold and complex flavors. Additionally, the diversity of ingredients used in Mexican cuisine is impressive, ranging from avocado and lime to corn and beans. The combination of these ingredients creates a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and spicy flavors.
Mexican cuisine also includes a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. From the bold flavors to the variety of dishes and cultural significance, we will be eating very well and in-step with our Ancient Medicine Journey.

DAY ONE
Welcome to Tulum!
On arriving at Zenses Wellness & Yoga Resort, you are greeted by Fatima and your beautiful Mexican hosts, and you are completely enchanted by your surroundings. After settling in, you might choose to rest or have a refreshing swim.
Later, you’ll meet your new friends in person as we come together in our first Circle and open into sacred space, praising in advance all the elements of the Journey that have come together for this moment and for the transformation that is about to unfold, offering up our Intentions for our Journey.
We will follow this with a beautiful Welcome Dinner and afterwards settle in for the night, your comfortable king-size bed calling your name, and perhaps even revelatory dreams of what's to come.

DAY TWO
Mindful Morning, plus Temazcal + Cenote Purification
Today, we will have our first Mindful Morning:
- Meditation + Check-ins
- Delicious Breakfast at Zazil Cafe
- Personal Time or Gentle Yoga
All the way throughout our Journey, we are releasing stubborn patterns and all that no longer serves us, embracing the power we have within to create without limitation, and anchoring how we are the Creators of our Lives. Our Mindful Mornings, along with our groupwork, will support you to transform into a New Self with a New Life.
Later we will undertake our first letting-go ceremony, Temazcal (sweat lodge), a ritual which originated with pre-hispanic indigenous peoples.
The Temazcal represents the womb of Mother Earth, and participants are reborn after the ceremony, feeling renewed and empowered. Enveloped in copal, you will ceremoniously leave fear and your old life and personality in the dust.
Here you will release toxins, negative emotions, and entrenched blockages, opening the gateway for you to connect with your Inner self and the Divine as our journey progresses, and walk towards the embrace of a New Life in a New Life.
After Temazcal, we will purify ourselves in 2 different Cenotes, plus enjoy seasonal fruits and detox tea.

DAY THREE

Followed by time to yourself to rest, reflect, journal, dream, swim, connect with your likeminded friends.
In the afternoon, you have the option of joining us at Tulum Ruins.
On an ancestral plant medicine retreat, the Tulum Ruins amplify your intentions and spiritual experiences, and they allow you to connect with the energy of the land and the spirits that reside here.
In "The Sacred Network", author Chris Hardy wrote that the world's sacred sites comprise a Sacred Network that coincides with intersections of energetic waves from the Earth's geomagnetic field and act as antennae for the energies of the Cosmos, fuelling and amplifying Consciousness, the Earth, and the Universe.
Tulum - an ancient Mayan city of tremendous beauty perched atop a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea - is one such place. The Mayans believed Tulum was a sacred portal to the spiritual world where they could directly communicate with their gods and ancestors.
As we explore, you may absorb and feel awe and deep reverence for the ancient wisdom that permeates the stone walls. Perhaps you will even sense the presence of the Mayan shamans who once walked here, practicing their rituals and ceremonies in reverence and pursuit of higher consciousness.

DAY FOUR
First Sacred Psilocybin Ceremony (optional) + Sound Healing

Today, you will have your first psilocybin breakthrough experience, a transformative journey that will take you on a profound exploration of your psyche and spiritual consciousness. One in which your usual defenses and ego boundaries will be dissolved that you may connect to higher consciousness as you just let go with the support of your Facilitators.
You may feel a sense of unity with all living things, a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of the universe, and a newfound perspective on their life and purpose. You may experience profound releases, insights and realizations that bring clarity and healing to unresolved emotional or psychological issues, and to where you've been stuck, confused.
This journey can be both challenging and rewarding, and you may confront aspects of yourself that you have been avoiding or suppressing. However, you are fully supported with the guidance of a trained facilitator and proper preparation and integration so that you can surrender to the energy for your personal growth and spiritual evolution.
We will end and seal our Ceremony with a beautiful Sound Healing.

Deep within the Yucatan lie sacred portals that transcend time and culture - the cenotes. These natural wonders were revered by the Maya as gateways to the underworld (Xibalba) and the Divine, and they are the respected compliment to our Ancient Medicine journey in Mexico.
As we walk, wade, and swim in the purest of water, navigating the cenote's chambers with the only the light of our flashlights, we immerse ourselves in the sacred energy of this space. The quiet beauty of a private cenote, with its crystal-clear waters and lush greenery, transports us to a place of profound peace and reflection, supporting our Ancient Medicine Journey.
Through meditation, we will connect with our personal source and the spirit of the Underworld and open ourselves up to a deeper understanding of our own consciousness and the interconnectedness of all life.

DAY SEVEN
Chichén Itzá + Coba
This morning we are up early to be among the first at the majestic Chichén Itzá, one of the greatest centres of the ancient Maya-Toltec civilization and one of the world’s New Seven Greatest Wonders.
The Maya, who revered sacred plants for their healing and spiritual properties, imbued this place with their profound insights into the harmonious relationship amongst astronomy, mathematics, the cosmos, humanity and nature.
As you marvel at Kulkulkan Pyramid, dedicated to the Mayan god Kukulkan (Quetzalcoatl), you are transported by the Mayan shamanic vision. Its Nine Levels represent Nine Levels of Consciousness that date back 16.4-billion years, and the prophetic message of the New Era unfolding before us all now, and that the Ancient Medicine Journey is further accelerating you into.
The warmth of the sun on your skin reminds you of the Divine Power that imbues this ancient structure.
As you walk through the various ruins of Chichen Itza, you can feel the powerful energy that lingers within these sacred spaces, allowing you to tap into the Divine within yourself, and to open your heart to the interconnectedness of all life.
The wisdom and energy of Chichen-Itza assists you to deepen your understanding of your own journey and provide insight and guidance as we travel together on our journey of growth, healing, and transformation.
After lunch, we 'step back in time' and head to remote Coba, hidden in the heart of the lush Yucatan jungle, and the largest Mayan ruin.
On a rented bicycle or by tuktuk, you will travel along the white roads (sacbé) built by the ancient Maya. Exploring the pyramids, ball courts and intricate stone carvings of this sacred site, you cannot help but feel a sense of awe for the enduring power of creativity in the human search for meaning.
As you take in the view of the Nohoch Mul pyramid, the largest in the Yucatan peninsula, you are reminded that the path to spiritual growth is often a steep and winding one, full of challenges and unexpected twists.
As you contemplate and reflect upon the wisdom of the ancients contained here, Coba's deep spiritual foundation serve you as a powerful catalyst for transformation, helping you to release old patterns, liberate yourself and open up to new possibilities.

Bonus Day One
Our extra 3 days together starts when we drive north about an hour to Puerto Aventuras where, at Kantun-Chi, we experience another beautiful opportunity to dive deep into Mayan mythology, and descend to the bowels of the Earth into Xibalba.
Here we will join a group tour and spend a few hours exploring the Kantun-Chi grotto and its 5 spectacular cenotes..
Our guide will tell us about the history, geology and mysticism of the caves. You'll hike on jungle paths to the first 3 cenotes where you can swim and marvel at the clarity and color of the water.
After the first 3, you can choose to walk or ride a bike to the last 2 cenotes. You'll pass through an area of beautiful native trees and palms on your way. Once you reach Zihil Ha cenote you can go snorkeling or try kayaking around this large cenote.
Afterwards we will make our way back to our luxurious Hotel on the Caribbean and you are free to enjoy the rest your day at your own leisure. The Catalonia Royal Tulum Beach & Spa Resort is beautifully integrated in its natural surroundings of native jungle trees, local plants, mangroves and cenotes. It is stunning. I have come from a background where both parents were severely traumatized as children, and during my own childhood and within my extended family there was alcohol and drug abuse, violence against women, sexual abuse, depression, suicidal tendencies and more. I developed eating disorders, OCD tendencies, depression, suicidal ideation and other trauma responses.
My journey to heal and liberate myself started 40 years ago and includes many, many modalities, tremendous determination, numerous 'dark nights of the Soul' and a desire to assist others to assist themselves.
As such, I have been teaching people for the past three decades as an Inspirational Speaker, Spiritual Teacher, Mentor, Seminar Presenter and Blogger. What I teach is a syncretic blend of Eastern and Western spirituality; the leading-edge sciences of epigenetics, quantum physics, psychoneuroimmunology and heart coherence; New Thought; astrology and indigenous prophecy; and numerous, diverse spiritual and personal development therapies, including most recently, psilocybin, as an extremely powerful manner in which to more quickly bypass our patterns and access deeper truths and higher consciousness
I have consulted to and trained 1000’s of individuals in private, in groups and in the workplace throughout Australia, the United States and Mexico, and online globally.
